Happy Easter and Happy Sunday Bunday!

Happy Easter! Also Happy Sunday Bunday!
What a wonderful coincidence that Sunday Bunday coincides with Easter!

And here is my lovely easter nail art!

The colors I used for the base were from the March Julep Box, Simone and Shenae.
I used like three different greens and a lot more colors that I forgot! I'm sad that my little bunny smeared! I put on my top coat to fast!

Then I felt like something else was missing so I added..GLITTER!

I'm not sure if it looks better or worse, but I absolutely love the way my bunny turned out! I guess with the glitter the bunny looks less smeary..

Speaking of Bunnies..

Here's a certain bunny who will be getting lots of treats for Easter!

His nails are sooo long because he will NOT let us pick him up! We made a vet appt. for him so they can do it for us, but I love this picture of him.

So have a happy Easter if you celebrate it and have a happy sunday bunday because everyone should celebrate it!

Extra Relaxed 31 Day Challenge - Day 5

The first thing I thought to myself when I blindly grabbed for 3 random yet closely related blues was, Oh no, This is going to be a DISASTER!

Yet as I finished my last nail, I'm proud to say my crazy willy nilly attitude produced some quality nail art!

The orange/coral is the same I used Wednesday. I know it's odd to pair orange with blue  I think its odd to pair orange with blue and I sort of just grabbed at blues that looked pretty in my drawer! From lightest to darkest they are :

China Glaze - Turned up Turquoise
Spoiled - Distant Memory
Wet n Wild -Bijou Blue

I'm really happy with my blues!

In unrelated blue news I decided I'd like to try my hand at making my own indie polish (not to be confused with frankening, which is taking already made polish and mixing them together,  for those who don't know ((I'm talking to you mom!)) I'm talking about the whole 9 yards.. hell.. I'm talking the whole 10 yards! I bought a starter kit on etsy and a few micas and glitters I saw on my search for supplies and for now I'm going to see if I'm actually good at it. I don't want to go all out on something I'm not even sure that I'm good at.

I'll give you all more details in the future when I actually get to the mix'n!

Check out the rest of the girls Blue nails down below and have a happy Friday!

Pure Ice - Platinum & China Glaze - Whirled Away

Hi all,
Today's mani was a result of nothing but pure boredom. I slathered on a few coats of Pure Ice and wondered what else I could do with it. That's when I saw my nail mail that I recently got from Holly over at Holly and Polish. She's actually currently having a blog sale and you can check out what she has here. I found these really pretty liquid eyeliners and at the end of this post I'll show you the polishes I picked up!

Anyways, here is what I came up with due to my boredom.

That's right! A mani so easy, virtually anyone could do it!

The more I look, the more I like it! I used 3 coats of Pure Ice , 1 coat of China Glaze and 1 Coat of Seche (thus the little bubbles on my ring and pointer fingers)

and here is my promised nail mail pic!

I asked her to send me 3 surprise Shimmer polishes from the list that she had and I loved the ones she chose and of course I snatched up Whirled Away because I've seen it EVERYWHERE. Barielle is something that I haven't seen because according to the Website where they have their "where to buy" tab, they don't sell it anywhere where I live. Boo. I'll show you what I've done with this little beauty on Friday!

Have a happy humpday!

Ikat Nail Art

I know I said I'd post this Friday but then I accidentally forgot. OOPS!
So you get it today! I said I would use Sinful Colors - Cinderella as a base for some nail art. Well here it is!

Yes, this is the newest trend in nail art : The ikat trend. You've probably seen it everywhere and if not, well, you're seeing it here!

This is with no top coat because I liked the odd texture...

 I used :
Dark Blue - OPI - Blue My Mind!
Medium blue - Black Poppy (unnamed) from pacsun
and the base was Sinful Colors - Cinderella

...and this is with top coat because I was curious to see what it would look like with top coat after about an hour.

Really all the topcoat did was take away the texture. It looks well either way!

This was my first ikat and I really liked how it turned out! You don't need to be precise so it's like, who couldn't do this? I'll definitely play around with this some more because it was so easy!

Happy Sunday Bunday

Happy Sunday Bunday everyone!
What is Sunday Bunday you ask? Well, thanks to the wonderful Katherine at Rambles of a Polish Addict, the idea of Sunday Bunday was born. You can check her Sunday Bunday posts here .

I have a Harlequin Lop Rabbit that I adopted from the Animal Humane Society in August of 2012. He is currently 1 year and 9 months old. Sunday Bunday is a day to enjoy the cuteness that is Harvey. Me and Katherine are cooking something up with this Sunday Bunday so expect a little more organization of it in weeks to come.

For now, here's a few pictures of my bunny.

This was the image we saw on the humane society page when we first wanted to adopt him

And here are a few more to emphasize his cuteness!

Happy Sunday Bunday!

Extra Relaxed 31 Day Challenge - Day 4

Week 4 here, and we have Green nails on the schedule for today!
I was a little stumped at first but then looking through my greens inspired me and made me realize a lot of greens are named after limes!

So a lime manicure it is!

This is 2 coats of Essence - Lime Up! for the base
The white is Sinful Colors - Snow me White
and the dark green rind is Ulta - Limelight

I know the lines aren't perfect but that's what I love about it! This is something that I never would have done otherwise and I love the way these turned out. Here's some more picture spam because of my love for the lime!

Be sure to check up on the other girls and their lovely green nails!

Sinful Colors - Cinderella Swatch

Hello everyone, I suppose I'm a bit lazy this week and all I have for you today is a swatch, but I promise this Friday I'll have some awesome nail art to make up for it!

The swatch I have for you is  Sinful Colors - Cinderella

I used 2 coats of Sinful Colors - Snow me White underneath because the first time I used Cinderella it took me at least 6 coats for full opaqueness. Even with Snow me White it took me 4 coats for full opaqueness. Application was pretty good if not a little watery, but manageable.

This is without top coat and I (stupidly) decided to try a coat of Seche over this after I took my pictures and I'm pretty positive I'm experiencing the worst shrinking of shrinkage ever. It does look kind of cool though, the white looks like a halo around Cinderella.

This really does remind me of Cinderella, and her dress. I love the shimmer that changes from pink to yellow in certain lights.

I don't often enjoy plain nail polish on it's own unless it has some nail art, but with Cinderella, it's a different fairy tale (ha, i'm so punny!). It's one of those nail polishes where you can't stop looking at your nails every chance you get.

It's such a lovely, lovely turquoise/baby blue.

Friday's nail art may or may not involve Cinderella (Hint: It does!)

I Love Nail Polish - Purple Stuff and Revlon - Charming

Hi all!

I was super excited when my parents came back from vacation in Florida because PRESENTS!!!
Presents for me woohoo! I got many things from clothes to shells and of course, nail polish!

I received a bunch of Revlon polish, and I was surprised to see that I didn't have any in my current stash!

I, of course, used the most springy of the shades that I received because even though we just got a bucket of snow (putting a dampening on my spring-mood!) I still have spring in my mind.

This is Revlon - Charming under I Love NP - Purple Stuff :

I wish the photo would have turned out better! This is such a pretty purple glitter. There's so many purples and the white bar and hex's make the mix so unique. This is 4 Coats of Charming and 2 Coats of Purple Stuff. I did mess around with the placement of the large purple squares so they wouldn't be all clumped in one area, but other than that application was wonderful. Charming was a little streaky so it took 4 coats to make it all even.

And of course, Here's Charming on it's own. It's so...charming :

I want to mess around with using glue as a base for glitters so as to make my own peel off polish for easier removal. We'll see how it works out later this week!

Extra Relaxed 31 Day Challenge - Day 3

It's Day 3 (which is really week three) of the Extra Relaxed 31 Day Challenge. The First thing I thought of when I heard yellow was Bumble Bees! So Bumble Bees it is!

For the Yellow I used the Yellow that came with my Beautifully Bright 3 piece set from Elf.
and the Black is Nina Ultra Pro - Black

I used my trusty fine point sharpie for the little Buzz's

Here's a shot without the buzz's, which I think looks way to empty!

No mani so far has made me look forward to summer so much! Even though bees are terrifying, they remind me so much of swimming at the lake and that, I do miss!

Be sure to check out everyone else's Yellow nails today!

St. Paddy's Day Mani

Sooo, I heard a certain Holiday is happening this Sunday!
I may not be a lick of Irish, but I do enjoy a nice green Holiday. It gives me an excuse to do a green Mani!

For some reason this just SCREAMED St. Paddy's Day to me.
This green is 2 coats of Elf  from the Beautifully Bright 3 piece set. with a coat of Seche on top. It doesn't have a name on it unfortunately. Since I'm such a master namer I think I'll name it Green.. OOO! No! St. Paddy's Green! Yeah, that's better!

In the bottle it looks like such a bright green, but on the nails and in the pictures it looks more of a turquoise/forest green. Hmph, it's still bright green to me!

The silver is Wet n Wild - Silvivor .

This is the first time I saw the name Silvivor which means I probably haven't swatched it yet but it's such a cute name!

And here is St. Paddy's Green on its own :

I held my hand at a really awkward angle but thank goodness for cropping!

This is with a basecoat and without Seche Vite.

So whoever celebrates St. Paddy's, have fun this Sunday! Meanwhile I'll probably be curled up with my bunny, Harvey, and i'll be reading a book (or a nice gossip magazine!)

Shimmer Polish - Maria

Hey everyone!
Today I have some nail art that I'm very pleased with. It came out much better than I thought it would.
There's so many pictures that I love, beware the photo bomb!

This is Shimmer - Maria over two coats of Wet n Wild - I Need a Refresh-Mint and one coat of Seche Vite on top.

Maria is a beautiful Blue glitter with at least 3 or 4 different micro glitters in various sizes.
Application was a breeze and I loved how their was a good amount of large and small glitters per swipe on the nail.
Love, Love, Love this!

I used nothing but the brush that came in the bottle for this glitter gradient.

Of course I've always wanted to see what Glitter would look like mattefied in real life because I've seen it everywhere on other blogs!

Let me tell you I LOVE IT!

I used Julep - Matte Top Coat for this matteification and it went on smooth as butter, unlike my last matte which clumped up terribly after a few uses which in turn made my nails all uneven and gloopy when I used it.

I loved how the blues played together and the muted glisten you get with the matte. It reminds me of glittery chalk, which I've never seen but hope it exists!

Have a wonderful day my little lady bugs!

Extra Relaxed 31 Day Challenge - Day 2

I know I said I'd do this post later in the evening but I stayed up all night and now I have little to do, so why not post this now?

I'm officially on track now and the girls are already rolling out the orange's, so here's mine! :

The base Orange is Wet n Wild - Sunny Side Up
The sparkly orange is Sally Hansen - Moonlit Dance
and the dark orange is Bonita , which doesn't have a name and when that happens I become namer of the polishes. Usually I'm pretty boring with polish naming and I decided to boringly call this one Orange. So Bonita - Orange it is!

I love me a nice tape design to make things look snazzy. (Oh how I've wished to throw that word into a post for such a long time!)

Be sure to check out the others below!

Extra Relaxed 31 Day Challenge - Day 1

Hi all, I decided to do my first challenge and I found one that was PERFECT for me.

The 31 Day Extra Relaxed challenge!

I'm lazy and I hate doing my nails everyday because I feel like that's a waste of polish and I would never get to enjoy my designs, much less anyone else.

Katherine over at Rambles of a Polish Addict is the mastermind behind this challenge and I'm excited to do it.  It runs every Friday , and unfortunately I missed the first day, March 1st, so today will be a double post, one in the morning and one in the evening.

Today is (well March 1st was) Red :

My cuticles look much drier in this picture than they did on the camera! Whew, gotta fix that!

When I saw red I immediately thought lady bug! This is Nailtini - Bloody Mary for the red of the lady bug and Nina Ultra Pro - Black for the details.

I used little black rhinestones for the eyes as well.

Later will be today's Post which is Orange!

Be sure to see the other girl's Red nails below!

March Julep Maven box - Teri , Shenae and Simone

Hello Everyone!

Despite the MASSIVE amount of snow we recieved (which it figures the first year I'm out of High School, My school district closes for the first time in AT LEAST 13 years, Pshh), I'm still feeling Springy.

The new March Julep box I found in the mail made me feel even Springier!

The colors I received were in the It Girl box, which were :
Julep - Teri
Julep - Shenae and Julep - Simone.

I used tape to mark off the Blue, which is Shenae, then freehanded the Purple which is Simone and the Orange which is Teri.

The sort of shimmer/nude nail is actually Avon - Pearl Shine which gives off such a pretty subtle shimmer.

Here it is on its own :

Spring has sprung, if only in my mind!

Layla - Ocean Rush

Hey guys, This post is a little late today, Sorry about that as you know I've been VERY busy.

So I have Layla - Ocean Rush for you today which is my first Holographic nail polish that I've ever tried. I have to say, it's really not what I expected.

This is three coats, with a base coat because I wasn't sure about staining and a top coat of Seche Vite. The coats were very streaky and I tested these on my toes, without top coat to see how long they'd last, it took a day until it pretty much chipped on every toe. The holo made my camera go crazy of course and I noticed when I dented my ring finger it was very noticeable  The formula also thickened the more I used it which wasn't very fun! I'll give Holo a try again, but not in the near future.

Also, I wanted to see what this would look like with my Shimmer Polish (Which I picked up a few more of, WooHoo!) and I'm not sure how I feel about the nail art.

This is Elsa which I've used before. I used tape but I don't know, I guess it's just the color combination that I don't like.

You can find Shimmer Polish here.

What do you think?

My Nail Polish Set Up

So today is going to be a bit of a photo bomb. There's so many elements to my nail art that as I was taking the pictures I kept remembering other things I use and do to prepare. That's why I think this needs to be done in two parts, Part One will be my storage and general nail art stuff and Part Two will be my acrylic stuff.

Okay.

Here we go!

These are where I currently store my nail polish, in my Helmer that I got from IKEA. The two top drawers are used for Polish and the bottom is for my socks! I had them all organized at one point but somehow they magically reordered themselves.

This is the top of my Helmer where amongst my Hello Kitty things (I promise you, I have way to much Hello Kitty Stuff, but a little Hello Kitty's never hurt any one!), I keep nail polish I haven't yet swatched and my I<3NP Polish because the boxes are so pretty. Of course I keep my Seche here as well for easy access.

This is my swatching process, I usually let nail polish stack up until I have at least 30 to do because I'm lazy. I use these sticks that I found on Ebay. The little dots toward the top of the nail that you see in the picture is the number of coats that I used and then I write the brand and name of the polish on the stick.

And this is My Man! He holds all my swatch sticks that I order by color because I think it just looks prettier that way. (He's completely fabulous.)

This is the Nail Polish rack that I made using foam board and this tutorial that I found on Youtube.
I've yet to hang it up yet (which is why my nail polish drawers are so chaotic) because my dad's the one that's good at leveling things and drilling holes in the wall. DO NOT trust me with a drill (or any tool that could possibly cause destruction for that matter.)

This is a little plastic storage unit that I've had since I was at least 7 (I used to store my hotwheels and my Barbies in here) and now it's used for electronic/junk/book/nail art storage. This is where I keep everything from my files, my acrylic supplies, my stamper (that has yet to be used) and my sharpies. I have a few electric nail  drills but I prefer to do it by hand.

This is my manicure desk that I found at Ulta. It came with a hand drill, accessories and a nail drier that I never use due to my love for Seche Vite. I thought it was so cute and it really minimizes the need to vacuum wherever I am because of my nail filing. I file all of my acrylic and in turn have lots of surgical masks so I don't breathe the filings in.

I hate that every single room in my little apartment/house (it's an apartment/house, I have no idea how to explain it other than each floor holds a seperate family but everyone is related) anywho, every single room in this place is GREEN! Green EVERYWHERE! The kitchen, the bathroom (sink, bathtub, walls), bedroom, ALL OF IT IS GREEN! So I use this Canvas in the Bathroom, where the light is the best, for my picture set up. Which is why sometimes in pictures you can see the 4 lightbulb reflection. I hope to get my desk and a nice desk lamp so pictures will be easier in the future!

That is it! Everything I use to give you all my nail art each week.

Next week I have some much needed nail art planned!
